Delhi Metro Starts Special Drive to Check Unauthorised Entry into Ladies Coach

A “Special Checking Drive” has been launched by the Delhi Metro to prevent unlawful entry and activities of male passengers inside ladies coaches of Metro trains.

Eleven flying squads, each comprising of one Station Manager, one Delhi Metro Rail Police Staff, one Security Controller and two Group-4 Security Guards have been set up for all the six lines of Delhi Metro which will keep a vigil on unauthorized entry of male passengers into the ladies coaches or misbehaving with them especially during morning (09:00 am to 11:30 am) and evening (7:00 pm to 10:00 pm) peak hours.

This special checking drive has started from today and will continue for whole week on all Metro lines. As part of the drive, the flying squads will travel in trains and conduct surprise checks to ensure that women commuters feel safe and comfortable while traveling in the Metro, even during late hours.

Those who are found breaking the rules, disobeying the instructions of the flying squads or refusing to pay the fine (Rs. 250/-) will be de boarded from the train and will be handed over to the Delhi Metro Rail Police.

Along with this special drive, DMRC has also started running awareness messages on all the LCD TVs installed on stations like Chandni Chowk, Chawri Bazar, New Delhi, Patel Chowk and Central Secretariat, regarding ‘Ladies Coach and unlawful entry into ladies coach by male passengers’.

The DMRC decided to conduct this drive after receiving complaints/feedback from the women passengers regarding entry and misbehavior by male passengers inside the ladies coach in recent days. Women commuters can also inform DMRC 24X7 Helpline Number 155370 in case of any misbehavior or unauthorized entry into ladies coach by male passengers.
