Description of the Project
The Airport Express Line having 23 km
(16 km underground and 7 km elevated) length is a high-speed Metro
connection from New Delhi Railway Station to Dwarka Sector 21
through IGI Airport. This line is being built on Public Private
Partnership (PPP ) model wherein the civil structures have been
built by the Government being represented by Delhi Metro Rail
Corporation and the system installations as well as Rolling
stock supplied, installed and operated by a private partner (i.e.
Concessionaire) which in this case is a joint venture of Reliance
Infra and CAF (a Spanish company). The concessionaire shall be
operating the line for 30 years and share the revenue apart from
license fee.
2.0 Salient Features of the

Delhi, Shivaji Stadium, Dhaula Kuan, Delhi Aero city , IGI Airport,
Dwarka sector 21

maximum operating Speed of 120 kmph

Travel time is 18 min from New
Delhi to Airport and 3 min from Airport to Dwarka.

6 car trains supplied by M/s CAF
(Spanish company) .

Trains mainly seated with half
coach reserved for baggage with additional luggage racks inside the
coaches.

City Air Terminals at 3 locations
viz New Delhi, Shivaji Stadium, Dhaula Kuan

Check in facility including early
check-in for Air passengers and baggage.

On-line Flight information display
system at Stations.

Automated Baggage Handling System
with minimum manual interface.

Baggage trolleys and porter
services at City Airport terminal stations.

New Delhi station is 12 level- 5
levels for station, 4 levels for carpark & 3 levels for
offices/commercial use.

installed at all the stations

Platform screen doors for safety
and energy efficiency

Customer care facilities available
at all stations.

Toilets for male, female and
disabled at all the stations.
3.0 Present Status:

All
statutory clearances obtained.

Full
scale Service trials done.

Integration
testing done and also interfaces with Airport operator in place.

Deployment of CISF for guarding the
line in progress.
