Central Secretariat – Sarita Vihar Corridor Opens for Commuter Operations Tommorow
The 15 kilometres long Central Secretariat ( CTST) – Sarita Vihar section will be opened for commuter operations from 8 AM tomorrow thus enabling people to travel to the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium for the inaugural ceremony of the Commonwealth Games by the Metro.
The Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) Shri. R. K. Kardam has completed the inspection of this line and permission to open this line for public use has been given by the CMRS. Passenger services will start simultaneously from Central Secretariat and Sarita Vihar at 8 AM tomorrow i.e. 3rd October 2010 and before the start of the same special Pilot trains to check the preparedness will be run on this line with officers from signaling, electrical, track, rolling stock, etc. as per the standard safety precautions followed by DMRC.
Train services on this line will be run with a very high frequency of a train every 2 minutes and 40 seconds to cater to the passenger rush expected for the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games tomorrow and train movement on this line will be personally monitored by senior Metro officers from the Operations Control Room throughout the inaugural function.
The last trains will be available at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Metro Station at 11:24 PM for passengers going towards Central Secretariat while the last train from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Metro Station towards Sarita Vihar will depart at 11:27 PM. Normal service timings on this line will be from 6 AM to 11 PM from 4th October.
This 15 kms long section has 6 kms underground from Central Secretariat to Lajpat Nagar and 9 kms elevated from Lajpat Nagar to Sarita Vihar with interchange facilities at Central Secretariat. The line is expected to be further extended upto Badarpur from Sarita Vihar in about 10 days time.
