LIFT SHAFTS DECORATED WITH ART WORK AT METRO STATIONS
Lifts installed at some of the Metro stations on the upcoming Majlis Park – Shiv Vihar corridor of Phase 3 are going to wear a new look with attractive artworks being installed in the entire lift shafts (external portion of the lifts visible at stations).
The lift shafts at 11 stations of this corridor – Netaji Subhash Place, Shalimar Bagh, Narayana, Bhikaji Cama Place, Sarojini Nagar, South Extension, INA, Lajpat Nagar, Vinobha puri, Nizamuddin and Ashram are being decorated with a variety of artwork which will significantly add to the beauty of the stations.
Digital glass prints are being installed on the entire shafts of the lifts. As per the design of the Metro stations, the entire shaft of the lift is exposed at the stations from all directions. These artworks will cover these exposed portions and beautify the station area. All these lifts run from ground to concourse and concourse to platform levels of these underground stations.
Themes inspired by nature, Indian classical dance forms etc have been chosen for the project. The designs have been prepared in house meticulously by DMRC’s own team of architects.
Delhi Metro always endeavours to design its stations in an aesthetic manner. Art works and installations have been installed at many of Delhi Metro’s stations. In Phase 2, the lift shaft at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Metro station was also decorated with artworks.
Most of Delhi Metro’s new stations of Phase 3 have been decorated with artworks and installations. On the heritage line, stations have artworks depicting the history and culture of the area. In the upcoming Botanical Garden – Kalkaji Mandir section also, artworks have been installed to beautify the stations. AD/ED (CC)/DMRC
