UNION MINISTER FOR ROAD TRANSPORT & HIGHWAYS, SHRI NITIN GADKARI, FLAGS OFF SMART E-RICKSHAW SERVICE FOR METRO STATIONS IN GURUGRAM TO ENSURE LAST MILE CONNECTIVITY ON 04.09.2017
With a view to provide convenience to its commuters by ensuring last mile connectivity from the Metro stations falling in Gururgram, the E-Rickshaw service was formally flagged-off from the HUDA City Centre Metro today by Hon’ble Union Minister For Road Transport & Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari.
Rao Inderjit Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent charge) of the Ministry of Planning and MoS in the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Dr. Mangu Singh, MD/DMRC were also present during the occasion along with other senior officials.
The first fleet of 500 E-rickshaws inaugurated today from HUDA City Centre Metro station will operate from all five Metro stations (Guru Dronacharya, Sikanderpur, M.G.Road, IFFCO Chowk, HUDA City Centre) falling in Gurugram. By the end of this year, another fleet of 500 e-rickshaws will cover all 14 Metro stations falling in Gurugram and Faridabad.
DMRC has partnered with M/s Treasure Vase Ventures Pvt. Ltd., the Operator who will procure the e-rickshaws and operate the services in Gurugram & Faridabad under their brand name smart-E. Both DMRC and SmartE are closely working to also enable Metro Smart Cards for SmartE ride payments, towards the vision of ‘Common Mobility Card’.
The specially designed E-rickshaws with covered cabin and full front windscreen will provide the last mile connectivity within an area of 3-4 KM around Metro stations. They are also enabled with CCTV and GPS availability. The fares for these SmartE rides have been kept very nominal at a base price of ?10 for the first 2 KM and ?5/- for every subsequent KM. Earlier this year, the Delhi Metro introduced its first E-rickshaw service from Vaishali Metro station. A fleet of 11 e-rickshaws is being run at present from Vaishali covering 4 different routes. This fleet will also be increased to 600 which would be run from all 7 stations falling in Ghaziabad and NOIDA.AD/ED (CC)/DMRC
