Almost 22 lakh Passangers Travel By Delhi Metro on the eve of Rakhsabandhan, Sets highest ridership record so far.
The Delhi Metro achieved a milestone on Wednesday, 01st August 2012 when close to 22 lakh (2.2 Million) people traveled on the Metro throughout the day. This was the second time in a span of ten days that DMRC carried over 21 lakh passengers on a single day.
Delhi Metro recorded the highest ever ridership figure of 21, 95,999 on 01st August 2012, which surpassed the earlier record set on 23rd July 2012, when 21, 26,763 people traveled by the Metro. On Wednesday, Metro’s all the six lines grossed highest ridership individually also. The linewise breakup of ridership for 01st August 2012 is given below:

In order to cater to this increased ridership, the Delhi Metro also opened additional ticket counters at 24 Metro stations including Dilshad Garden, Shahdara, Seelampur, Jahangirpuri, Azadpur, Adarsh Nagar, M G Road, IFFCO Chowk, HUDA City Centre, Vaishali, Uttam Nagar East, Dwarka Mor, Moolchand, Sarita Vihar, Badarpur etc.
In the last three months, Delhi Metro has registered a significant increase in its overall ridership. Its average daily ridership has increased from 17.33 lakhs in April to 19.07 lakhs in July.
