First Precast Girder Launched on Faridabad Metro Corridor
The first precast span for the 13. 875 kilometers long Badarpur – YMCA Chowk Metro corridor was launched by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) under the supervision of Managing Director, Mr. Mangu Singh today.
Two cranes of 400 ton and 330 ton capacity each were used to lift a 150 ton weight and 27 meter long U-girder to put it on the viaduct near the proposed Old Faridabad Metro station. Director (Project & Planning), Mr. D. K. Saini and Director (Works), Mr. Jitendra Tyagi and other senior officials from DMRC were also present during this event.
This fully elevated corridor will have 9 stations in which a total numbers 548 piers and 883 U-Girders will be used and likely to be operational by the end year 2014.
This corridor is an extension of already operational 20.16 km long Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor of Line -6 which is further extended from Central Secretariat to Kashmree Gate covering 9.36 km. Once fully operational, Line-6 will be running from Kashmere Gate to YMCA Chowk having a length of 43.40 KM and 32 Metro stations. Of these, five will be interchange stations namely, Kashmere Gate, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, Lajpat Nagar and Kalkaji Metro Station.
