DMRC Starts Training For Rapid Metrorail Gurgaon Recruits
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is starting a special training programme for the recruits of the Rapid Metrorail Gurgaon Limited (RMGL), as Rapid Metro operations are likely to start in Gurgaon by April 2013. A batch of 30 candidates, who recently joined Rapid Metrorail Gurgaon Limited as Station Controller/Train Operator (SC/TO), will undergo training at the Delhi Metro’s Training Institute/School situated in Shastri Park from tomorrow onwards i.e, 17th September 2012.
At present, the Rapid Metrorail Gurgaon Limited has given a requisition of a total of 30 SC/TO to be trained in the Delhi Metro. The present batch consisting of Station Controllers/Train Operators (SCs/TOs) from the RMGL will be given a seventeen weeks intensive training at the Shastri Park Training Institute where they will get a first-hand account of the functioning and working of the Metro system. The DMRC will provide them customized training catering to their special needs and special training modules have been evolved / designed to suit their requirements.
During the course of their training module, the candidates will be given exposure to the latest technology like the Siemens signaling system, emergency systems, Rolling Stock (RS), station operation and management, and other aspects. They will also undergo ‘Simulator’ training in which they will learn how to drive the trains in modes like Automatic Train Protection (ATP). The trainees will learn how to start the train, pick up acceleration, decelerating, braking, door opening and closing, communication within the train, handling emergency situations and passenger evacuation and Man-Machine Interaction (MMI) within the Train Operator’s Cab.
The Rapid Metro consists of a 6.1 km long Metrorail system connecting Sikanderpur Metro station of Delhi Metro to Cyber city and NH-8 in Gurgaon. This RMGL link will provide a feeder line to Delhi Metro and serve commuters travelling to Cyber city / NH-8 from Delhi or other parts of Gurgaon.
Delhi Metro’s training Institute is the only institute in South Asia that has been accorded with ISO 9001: 2008 certification, a validation from the International Organization for standardization (ISO) for maintaining standard in Quality Management System (QMS) in training. The institute specializes in advance Metro technology having dedicated faculties in the areas of Telecommunication, Signaling, Train Operation - Automatic Train Protection (ATP) and Automatic Train Operation (ATO) mode, Track Engineering, Automatic Fare Collection (AFC), Emergency Services and Emergency Communication, Disaster Management, Communication within Metro train, Rolling Stock (coaches), Station Design and Layout, Security & Safety system, Property Development around the station areas, Fire detection and suppression system, etc.
The institute has already trained around 300 staff and executives from other Metros like Bangalore Metro, Kochi Metro, Chennai Metro, Jaipur Metro etc.
